Guest Bio:

John Axelrad, ACE is a feature film and television editor based in Los Angeles. He recently edited the Warner Bros. feature film “The End of Oak Street” for director David Robert Mitchell and producer J.J. Abrams. Axelrad edited on the 2024 Netflix feature film “Spaceman” for director Johan Renck and edited the feature “Chevalier” for director Stephen Williams. “Chevalier” premiered at TIFF 2022 and was theatrically released by Searchlight Pictures. Other recent credits include editing the Lionsgate socio-political thriller feature film “Antebellum,” additional editing on the Netflix feature trilogy “Fear Street,” and cutting the horror-comedy “Krampus." Among some of Axelrad’s earlier credits, he edited five feature films for director James Gray: “Ad Astra,” “The Lost City of Z,” “The Immigrant,” “Two Lovers,” and “We Own the Night.” He also edited “Papillon,” James Gunn’s “Slither,” and the Fox Searchlight critically acclaimed Academy Award-winning "Crazy Heart” for director Scott Cooper.


Axelrad is an active editing mentor in the ACE Internship Program, Academy Gold, and the MPEG Lift Up Women Initiative.
