Guest Bio:

HOWARD LEDER

Howard Leder is one of Hollywood’s stranger hyphenates: an editor-actor. His editing credits include This Is Us, The Newsroom, Perry Mason, Big Love, and American Gods. As a performer, he’s appeared with regional theaters like the Utah Shakespeare Festival, A Noise Within, The Actors Co-op, and The Porters of Hellsgate. He holds an MFA in Film & Television from USC and studied theater and voice at Oberlin College & Conservatory. He shares his home (and the occasional dramatic monologue) with his husband Patrick and their two dogs, Sandor and Gloucester.

JULIA GROVE

ACE Eddie nomination in 2021 for her work on the award-winning NBC drama This Is Us, a series she is honored to have been a part of for its entire six-season run. Her initial editorial calling came while at Boston University when she realized she was thriving in a dim, windowless basement with only a Steenbeck and 16mm reels to guide her. Since then Julia has edited numerous unscripted and scripted shows over the years, including The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, This Is Us, A Man in Full, and most recently Paradise for Hulu. She is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild’s Women’s Steering Committee, an alumna of the ACE Diversity Mentorship Program, and was inducted into the honorary society of American Cinema Editors (ACE) in 2021. In between cuts Julia enjoys freeze dance parties with her husband and two young sons. Sometimes the cats join in.

LAI-SAN HO

Lai-San Ho is a television editor whose credits include "Paradise," "This Is Us," "The Company You Keep," and "Rabbit Hole." She received an ACE Eddie nomination for her work on Season 5 of "This Is Us," alongside Julia Grove. Prior to cutting on Seasons 4 through 6 of "This Is Us," she served as an assistant editor on the show. Originally from New Jersey, Lai-San has lived in LA for the past decade. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, karaoke, and YA novels.

ANDREW DAWSON

With a creative foundation rooted in music performance, Andrew Dawson ultimately found his true calling in post-production sound. Over the past 30 years, he has cultivated a unique career as a supervising sound editor, sound designer, voice-over performer, educator, and demo producer. His sound work spans hundreds of television and film projects, earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Editing on American Horror Story: Asylum, along with Emmy nominations for the 2016 remake of Roots and the Netflix series Freeridge. In addition to his work behind the scenes, his voice is regularly featured across promos, trailers, commercials, and video games, further reflecting his range and versatility within the industry.

EVAN UNDERWOOD

Evan Underwood is the CG Supervisor at Onyx VFX.

Prior to joining Onyx in 2024, Underwood served as a VFX Supervisor at Zoic Studios, leading teams on projects including 1923, The Continental, The Sympathizer, and Quantum Leap. He transitioned into supervision in 2018, overseeing CG work on series such as Outer Banks, S.W.A.T., Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., 9-1-1, The Tick, and Pam & Tommy.

Underwood began his career at FuseFX, where he spent over a decade as one of the studio’s early CG artists. During that time, he developed a comprehensive skill set across the full CG pipeline, including camera tracking, animation, modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering.

Originally from Kokomo, Indiana, he studied computer graphics technology at Purdue University before relocating to Los Angeles in 2009.

Evan believes the best work comes from teams that feel comfortable, supported, and free to collaborate, which is why he brings that mindset to every project.
